what the ears hear

So we went what was supposedly one of the best jazz clubs in Toronto last night. But the moment we walk in I thought it wasn't a jazz place because of the way the people dressed. They were too mainstream and not funky enough. And when we got up to the stage, it was confirmed by their instruments. This is not to say I was disappointed or anything, in fact I was relieved because although I do enjoy tons of different kinds of music, jazz is not really one of them.
So it was a rythm and blues band. And it wasn't what many people call R&B. What many people call R&B is really just black pop. This wasn't black pop.
Anyway, this band could really 'swing' and at one point the whole bar/restaurant got up and started dancing, a 75 yr old honky included! Fun times.
The place was really crowded and we were toward the entrance so instead of wrestling thru the crowd, I went outside to find a bathroom elsewhere. Couldn't find one so I wandered into a wicked alley that coulda been used in a Fincher film and went there.
Took a while to get back in as there was big line to get in. One dude really wanted to get in but the doorgirl stood her ground bravely even though she was probably 150 lbs lighter and had the look of a beautiful delicate little flower. And when she saw me, she waved me in to the extreme displeasure of the dude. She was awesome!

It's getting cold. That sucks.

I'm gonna do something unexpected. Or at least try to if I remember. I have no idea what everyone will think.
