Spring is Near

Coming home on Friday night I realized spring is very close. When I got out of my car, I was expecting the usual shock I get when I touch the metallic door from static electricity but it never arrived. I was pleasantly surprised and it made me aware that winter may be concluding soon.
Oh yeah, and it's been getting a lot warmer outside too, duh.
Another thing I saw that night was a family of raccoons crossing the road(why? presumably to get to the other side)! I tried to slow down but I only saw the family too late and they were scared back to where they came from. Since it was late and the streets were pretty much deserted, I backed up and waited and hoped for them to try again. It worked! They casually walked across the street with fear but with little speed.
Then later, a couple of kilometers down the same road, I saw another raccoon! But I didn't stop or even slow down this time because I had already 'been there, done that'. Plus, this one didn't even have a family! So he got a little frightened but no more harm had been done than what already has been done by the invasion of its habitat, the polluting of its food supply and the destruction of its environment.
Then even later, I saw a bunny rabbit! Wow, I rarely see those outside the pet store! It was grey and it looked delicious! Which reminds of when I was in Europe and visiting my cousin and they had a bunny for my godson. They had a huge backyard and would often let the rabbit wander free but it had to be supervised as there were flaws in the fence and it would escape. So when the rabbit began to head for escape, the whole family would have to join in on the hunt. They even had a dog named Becki which happened to be a hunting dog of some kind to join in. Becki was a quite a dumb dog and so we were all amazed when she gently caught the rabbit by pinning him to the ground with her paw. She then waited for us to grab him and the mission was accomplished.
Well one day the bunny escaped from his pen unbeknownst to us and wandered into the neighbor’s yard. Now this neighbor lived by some code that demanded he live by 19th century standards with no electricity, growing most of his own food and making use of an outhouse. Needless to say, he caught the rabbit and cooked him up for dinner. I'm sure he was delicious.
A few days later we got another bunny identical looking to 'delicious dinner' and my godson was none the wiser.
Then a week later I caught a hedgehog for him and he was overjoyed. But that's a whole other story(not really, that's the anecdote in its entirety right there).
So, spring is near!
